History Of The Housing Market
Originally an enclave of affordable living, attracting families with its offerings of single-family homes, townhouses, and condos, Renfrew Heights has seen a significant upswing in property values over the years. Houses tend to be a bit bigger with lot sizes to match with most of the architecture reflecting the prevailing tastes of the 1950s to the 1980s when Renfrew Heights enjoyed its most significant development. The area is lush and full of vegetation, with wide, welcoming tree-lined roadways, and does offer some home-owners an incredible view of the mountains.
The Renfrew Community Centre, located in spectacular Renfrew Park, welcomes all ages with a pool, sauna and fitness centre. It also provides social space for meetings and community events. The Italian Cultural Centre on Slocan Street, bordering Beaconsfield Park, has a small museum and library that house many of the contributions made by Vancouver’s Italian community. Falaise Park with its playground, ball diamonds and off-leash dog area, and Renfrew Ravine Park, which runs along Still Creek, are two other outdoor spaces that moderate the pace of life in Renfrew Heights.
Restaurants & Shopping
Being a relatively smaller neighbourhood, Renfrew Heights doesn’t have a distinct commercial or retail district, although some stores and coffee shops can be found along E 22nd. Major retail establishments are situated on the northern side of Grandview Hwy.
